Hi, I’m Laverne McKinnon.
I’m a career strategist, Master Certified Coach (MCC), and grief recovery specialist with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Beyond coaching, I’m a speaker and mentor. As a faculty member at Northwestern University, I teach Persuasion & Pitching, a course that helps students frame their ideas in ways that inspire action. Feedback on my approach has been described as “life-changing,” “deeply intuitive,” and “a powerful catalyst for change.”
As an executive producer on the Netflix series GIRLBOSS, and co-founder K&L Productions, I’ve championed marginalized voices and stories that focused on themes of resilience and empowerment. Before that, at CBS and EPIX, I developed successful TV series that received Emmys, Golden Globes, Screen Actor Guild and Writers Guild awards and nominations.
